Teaching approach

Structured, and personal.

Every student receives an individual plan. These are the foundations I build on, whether the goal is an exam, a concert or simply playing for pleasure.

01Individual learning plansA plan built around each student’s goals, age, level and schedule, and adjusted as they grow.
02Classical piano fundamentalsPosture, touch, tone and musical form: the foundation of confident, expressive playing.
03Scales, arpeggios and technical developmentSteady technical work that builds control, evenness and reliability under the fingers.
04Music theory and sight-readingUnderstand what you play, and read new music fluently from the page.
05Repertoire tailored to your interestsPieces the student actually wants to play, balanced with the classics that build real skill.
06Film music and contemporary piecesFilm themes and contemporary music, informed by my work as a composer and film scorer.
07Performance preparationRecitals, concerts, competitions and exams, with preparation for nerves and stage presence.

Common questions

Questions I hear most.

Do you teach in Persian?

Yes. I teach in both English and Persian (Farsi), so you can learn in whichever language you are most comfortable with.

Do I need a piano at home?

Regular practice matters, so you will need an instrument at home. A weighted-key digital piano is a good starting point if you do not have an acoustic. Ask me and I will help you choose.

What age can my child start?

Most children are ready from around 5 or 6. If your child is younger, get in touch and we can talk about whether it is the right time.

I have never played. Is it too late?

No. Many students start as adults. We begin with the basics and build up at a pace that suits you.

How long are lessons and what do they cost?

Lessons are available in 30, 45 and 60-minute lengths, depending on age and level. Send an enquiry and I will reply with current prices.

Where do lessons take place?

Lessons are in person at my studio at 213/121 Rosslyn St, West Melbourne VIC 3003. Send an enquiry to arrange a time; scheduling is flexible, subject to availability.

Ready to find your musical voice?

Tell me about the student and what you would like to achieve. I reply within a day or two.
